How to convert real power in kilowatts (kW) to apparent power in kilovolt-amps (kVA).
kW(kilowatts) to kVA(kilovolt-amps) conversion formula
S=The apparent power S in kilovolt-amps (kVA)
P=the real power P in kilowatts (kW)
P.F=the power factor PF:
So that you can rewrite this formula as
or
Let's take one Example
Example #1
I want to Calculate the apparent power(in kilovolt-amps) where the real power is 5 kW and the Pf is 0.7?
Apply conversion formula:
S = 5kW / 0.7 = 7.14kVA
Example #2
I want to Calculate the apparent power(in kilovolt-amps) where the real power is 10 kW and the Pf is 0.8?
Apply conversion formula:
S = 10kW / 0.8 = 12.5kVA
What is KVA(kilovolt-ampere)
A kilovolt-ampere, a measurement used for the apparent power in a circuit, equal to the multiple of RMS(i.e root-mean-square )voltage and RMS(i.e root-mean-square ) current so that you can say that AC (AC) circuits.While voltage product by amperes is generally termed as ‘watts’.
