## How to Convert Watts to Volts?

### Volts to Watts calculation formula in case of DC

P=The power P in wattsV=the voltage V in volts

I=the current I in amps

**P(W) = V(in Volts) × I(in Amps)**

**watt = volt(V) × amps(A)**

**W = V × A**

**Let's take an example**

**Example#1**

We need to find out the power(P) in watts where the current(I) flow is 5A and the voltage(V) is 10V In the circuit.

Apply formula for the solutions

P = 10V × 5A = 50W

### volts to watts calculation formula in case of AC single phase

P=The power P in wattsPF=the power factor PF

I=the phase current I in amps

V= the Root Mean Square voltage V in volts

**P(W) = Power Factor × I(in Amps) × V(in Volts)**

**watt = PF × amps(A) × volt(V)**

**W = PF × A × V**

**Let's take an example**

**Example#2**

We need to find out the power(P) in watts where the PF is 0.8 and the current Flow is 5A and Root Mean Square voltage is 100V in the circuit

Apply formula for the solution

P = 0.8 × 5A × 100V = 400W

### volts to watts calculation formula in case of AC three phase

P= power P in wattsPF=the power factor PF

I=the phase current I in amps

V=the line to line Root Mean Square voltage VL-L in volts

**P(W) = 1.732 × Power Factor × I(in Amps) × VL-L(in Volts)**

**watt = 1.732 × PF × amps(A) × volt(V)**

**W = √3 × PF × A × V**

**Let's take an example**

**Example#3**

Find out the power(P) in watts where the PF is 0.8 and the current Flow is 5A and the Root Mean Square voltage is 100V in the circuit.

Apply formula for the solutions

P(W) = 1.732 × 0.8 × 5A × 100V = 692.8W

### How to convert AC three phase volts to watts

**Calculation with line to neutral voltage**

**P(W) = 3 × PF × I(in Amps) × VL-N(in Volts)**

PF=Power factor

I(A)=phase current I in amps (A)

VL-L(V)= the line to neutral RMS voltage VL-N in volts (V)

**Let's take an example**

**Example#4**

Find out the power(P) in watts where the PF is 0.8 and the current Flow is 5A and the Root Mean Square voltage is 50V in the circuit.

Apply formula for the solutions

P(W) = 3 × 0.8 × 5A × 50V = 600W

So If we want to calculate the Watts from volts then we need the value of current(I) without knowing the current in the circuit we can not calculate the watts.

For Example,if we take a current of 4 amps in the circuit then we can easily perform the following conversion

**110 volts to watts: V*I=110V*4amps=440 watts****115 volts to watts: V*I=115V*4amps=460 watts****120 volts to watts: V*I=120V*4amps=480 watts****220 volts to watts: V*I=220V*4amps=880 watts****240 volts to watts: V*I=240V*4amps=960 watts****250 volts to watts: V*I=250V*4amps=1000 watts**
